Enid, OK - Opening night for Gaslight Theatre's Picasso at the Lapin Agile (written by Steve Martin) is this Friday, September 8th at 8:00 pm.
-
"It’s important to remember that the playwright of Picasso at the Lapin Agile is Steve Martin, stand-up comic, actor, writer, banjo player and something of a genius in his own right. So when big questions are being addressed, you can be sure that a layer of silliness is always in place (and, subversively, a layer of seriousness beneath that). Martin sends ideas onstage in baggy pants with a cigar, mixing the sublime with the ridiculous so that they can't be easily disentangled.” - The New York Times
-
Mr. Martin has earned multiple Emmy, Grammy, and American Comedy awards, along with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Picasso at the Lapin Agile won the Outer Critic’s Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Comedy in 1996.

Picasso at the Lapin Agile asks what happens when 2 great minds (or is it 3?) collide! The play centers on an imaginary meeting one night in 1904 between Picasso (Jason Maly) and a young Albert Einstein (Matt Palmer), who are about to change the world; Picasso with his painting “Les Desmoiselles D’Avignon” and Einstein with his about-to-be-published Special Theory of Relativity. Watch this 90 minute joke written by Steve Martin Sept 8-10 and 14-16 at Enid's own Gaslight Theatre! Be sure to stick around after curtain call for cabaret performances by Music Director Brett N Wilenzick and the cast in the lobby.
