ENID, Okla. — The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center will host a Frontier Festival on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $10, which includes all activities and admission to the museum. Children five years and younger are free.

Frontier Festival is a hands-on experience for the whole family that celebrates a time when rural communities came together to celebrate the end of the winter in the Cherokee Outlet. Visitors will get to compete for prizes playing carnival games, sack races, a milk bottle smash and maybe take home some cupcakes from the cake walk. Additional games and activities will be available to enjoy.

Each of the four historic buildings will be open for tours and the Garfield County Extension will have hands-on craft activities for children related to quilting. Cowboys will be on hand with their chuckwagons cooking up samples and handing out advice. Kids can take a turn doing laundry and making rope. Pawnee Bill and Mae Lily will also be in attendance. Guests are encouraged to dress out in cowboy gear and come celebrate the beginning of spring.

In addition to other activities, Furever Friends Animal Rescue will hold an adoption event on the grounds for families to find a new friend.

The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society.
