The funeral for Flossie Merrill, age 86, of Enid, will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Ron Olson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Flossie was born August 27, 1930 to Everette and Rena (Crawford) Coulter in McWillie, Oklahoma,, and met her Heavenly Father on February 25, 2017 in Enid.
Flossie attended school in McWillie and Helena, graduating from Helena High School in 1948. On August 12, 1950, she married Hiram E. Merrill in Cherokee. They made their home in Alva, Clinton, and moved to Enid in 1969. Flossie was an audit clerk at Romine & Thomas Accounting Firm. She was a member of Alva Church of the Nazarene, where she was President of the Nazarene Missionary Society, and later attended First Nazarene Church in Enid and Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church. Flossie loved God, and was a great Christian example to her family. Flossie was a model homemaker and spent hours making beautiful quilts and embroidered hand towels for her family. She made the best sand plum jelly and was an accomplished canner. A family gathering always included Flossie’s delicious homemade chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes. Flossie’s purpose in life was to care for her family. Her greatest desire was to see all of her family members in Heaven one day.
Flossie is survived by her three sons: Keith and wife Jean of Stillwater, Ken and wife Karen of Aline, and Gary of Enid; ten grandchildren: Amy Popham and husband James, Kelly Merrill and wife Kristin, Kyle Merrill and wife Melissa, Kurt Merrill and wife Tracie, Kari Mallett and husband Raleigh, Andrew Merrill, Coulter Merrill, Magen Bisig and husband Dustin, Amanda Upchurch and husband Tanner, Josh Wise and wife Kenna; twelve great grandchildren: Paityn Merrill and Paige Bisig, Marossie Popham, Kambry Merrill, Harrison Merrill, Avraam, Naomi, and Emilia Mallett, Ava and Ally Upchurch, Chaysen and Kyler Wise; and brother Leon Coulter and wife Karen of Helena.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2013, two brothers, and a sister.
