It was with great sadness that Pat Steddum announced the closing of Fat Cat's Deli last night on her Facebook Page. They had a great run when they first opened, but there just wasn't enough business to keep them going.

Steddum took to social media and sincerely thanked all of her employees who worked their tails off for her, and all the great customers who did support the eatery! Fat Cat's Catering will still remain in business. Steddum can be reached at 580-484-2339 for all your catering needs!!

Fat Cat's was the result of a group of friends getting together and enjoying great food. Friends of Pat Steddum loved her cooking so much they encouraged her to open her own restaurant. Dishes like Italian roast beef, fried smoked bologna and turkey TurJus were favorites at the get-togethers.

Steddum decided to take the plunge when she heard that Grand Slams on north Grand was closing and there was an opportunity to purchase the equipment. She kept the eatery in the same location and invited some of those same friends to come work with her.

The name Fat Cat's came from a combination of the vintage term "fat cat" and the fact that Steddum actually owns a very large cat.

Steddum prepared everything fresh daily, from the meats and hand cut fries to the handmade desserts. They opened the doors on May 18 and hoped to sell 20-30 sandwiches a day, to their surprise, they had days when they sold upwards of 110 sandwiches! Unfortunately that run did not last.
