ENID, OK - One of Enid's oldest businesses is celebrating 90 years with the grand opening of a new reception center. Brown-Cummings Funeral Home has been serving Enid as a family owned business for those 90 years.
-
Today at 3:15pm there will be a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony for the new Brown-Cummings Family Reception Center located next to the funeral home at 418 W. Maple.
-
The location was recently the Maple Place Bed & Breakfast but Becky Brown-Cummings actually grew up in the home. Her grandfather, Gerald L. Brown Sr., started Brown Funeral Home in 1926.
-
When the home came up for sale the family knew it would be the perfect spot for grieving families to gather or for local families to host small gatherings and meals.
-
The entire business is family owned by Joe and Becky Cummings along with Becky’s son and the great-grandson of founder Gerald Brown Sr., Shaun Cummings and his wife, Amy.
-
After the grand opening of the reception center local attorney Mr. Stephen Jones will lecture on the history of the funeral industry. The lecture will take place in the new reception center at 4:15pm. A reception with refreshments will follow.
-
At 6:00pm on Tuesday evening, Pastor Wade Burleson will lead a praise and worship service. The worship service and special music will take place in the Brown-Cummings Chapel, 400 W. Maple.
-
On Wednesday, there will be a pre-need workshop hosted by National Funeral Industry Expert Ray May at 10:00am and 5:30pm in the Central National Bank Center. Refreshments, door prizes and FREE planning kits will be provided.
