F. Don Jones

February 11, 1948 - July 22, 2024

Funeral service for F. Don Jones will be August 3, 2024 at 11:00 am in Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Tiger and Rev. Kwan Kim officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Carrier, Oklahoma under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

Frankie Don, better known as F. Don Jones was born February 11, 1948, at Coleman Hospital, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the eldest son born to Robert Victor and Evelyn May (Heiney) Jones. Don passed away July 22, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

F. Don served in the United States Air Force upon graduation from high school. Don grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. But he resided in Enid, Oklahoma the vast majority of his adult life. F. Don graduated from Northern Oklahoma College, University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma. He prided himself in encouraging all four of his children to pursue academic achievements. F. Don was a criminal justice system practitioner in excess of 34 years. He served in several capacities within the system and retired in 2012.

F. Don married the former Marjorie Janel Hess on June 8, 1973, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Two children were born to this union, Lesley Denell and Jeffrey Don. The couple divorced in January 1985, but remained friends. On June 29, 1986, Don married Denise Ronell (Nelson) Jones. The couple was blessed with two children, Chad Barker Newby and Allison Ronell Jones Smith. Don loved all four of his children to his death. He was proud to be an Lion member in both Enid and Edmond and lay speaker.

F. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Robert V. and Evelyn M Jones; sisters, Vicki Lee Jones Moore and Mary Alice (Mayer) Jones; brother, Robert M. Jones; grandparents; aunts and uncles.

Don is survived by his wife, Denise Nelson Jones of the home younger brother, Edward Jones; four children and their children, Lesley Jones, her son, Jaxson Nickolas Jones; Jeffrey Jones and wife Riyo and children, Kent Don & Maya Janell Jones; Chad Newby and wife, Lisa and children, Jett Ryker and Duke Hudson Newby; and Allison Jones Smith and husband, DJ and daughter, McKenna Denise Smith; sisters-in-law, Jane Nelson, and Karen Jones; nieces and nephews.

Don’s proudest accomplishments included making every effort to be a loving parent, his effective marriage to Denise and having earned a Master’s Degree. Don loved Jesus Christ and always made a concerted effort to adopt a “servants heart” for the glory of Christ and the betterment of the people of Oklahoma. He always considered himself to be blessed with numerous friends and acquaintances. He loved his immediate and extended family. He was a lifelong methodist and active member of Christ United Methodist for nearly 30 years and recently became a member of First United Methodist Church, Edmond.
