The Civil Rights Act of 1964 will be highlighted in the annual Enid Chautauqua in the Park at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in the Humphrey Heritage Village. This year’s event will take place from Tuesday, June 11, to Saturday, June 15. This year’s event is called “Lift Every Voice: 60 Years Since the Civil Rights Act.” It will feature the histories and perspectives of people who influenced the Civil Rights Movement through first-person scholarly presentations. Let's unite to fight fraud and shred instead. AARP Oklahoma, The Enid News & Eagle and Security National Bank are hosting a free shred event on June 15 from 9 a.m. to noon. The shredding will occur in the parking lot south of the drive-thru at Security National Bank, 201 W. Maine in Enid. The event is free and open to the public. AARP membership is not required to participate.
