Wakita & Twister Celebration

Wakita's Old Settler's Day Celebration celebrates the historic Cherokee Strip Land Run. This run took place on September 16, 1893, with more than 100,000 participants hoping to claim land. Held for years on September 16th, the annual event became known locally as the 16th Celebration. It is now held on the Saturday closest to September 16th. It is a time for family, friends, food, and fun!
This year Wakita is celebrating the 100th Annual Old Settler's Celebration.
