Funeral services for Ethyl Rey Gattis will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 13, 2022, at the Woodland Hills Baptist Church, in Newcastle, Oklahoma, with Pastor Bruce Christian officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 am, Monday, February 14, 2022, at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Friends can view and sign the guestbook on Saturday, February 12th from 1:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
Ethyl was born July 23, 1931, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to L. A. and Ethel L. (Greene) McLaughlin, and passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
She graduated from Blackwell High School in 1949. She enlisted and served her country from 1951-1954 in the United States Air Force. Ethyl attended El Reno Community College where she received her Associates Degree. She worked for the Oklahoma Rehabilitation Department in Enid in Rehabilitation, and retired after sixteen years of service.
Ethyl was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Enid, studied God’s word in the Berean Sunday School Class, and was a part of the prayer group. She moved to Newcastle, Ok and attended Woodland Hills Baptist Church for the last four years. Ethyl loved sharing the word of God, visited those who were ill, in nursing homes, hospitals or homebound. She had a caring and nurturing spirit and will be missed by all that knew her.
Ethyl is survived by her daughters, Kathy Juneau and husband Paul of Newcastle, OK; Susan Cerny of Newcastle, OK; son, Ernest Gattis; four grandchildren; Melissa Rey Hedrick and husband Jake, of St. Louis, MO; Cody Jack Delay of Oklahoma City, OK; Glenn Andrew Cerny of Newcastle, OK and Emily Rose Cerny of Newcastle, OK; as well as three great-grandchildren, Rylee, Dylan and Bo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Mills, of Blackwell, OK; and L.A. McLaughlin of Vinita, OK.
Memorial donations may be made to The Hope Center of Newcastle with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
