ENID, OK - The Enid Symphony Orchestra will celebrate Mother’s Day, Sunday May, 9, with a Subscribers Only concert entitled A Crazy Quilt of Music.
The 5:00 pm performance will be presented in Joan Allen Symphony hall located in the Enid Symphony Center at 301 West Broadway. The concert is for ESO current Season Subscribers only. No single tickets will be sold for the concert.
An Open Rehearsal for Non-Subscribers will be presented between 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. It is open to the public.
Admission to the Open Rehearsal is $10 for adults. Tickets will be available at the door only beginning at 12:30 pm. Children accompanied by an Adult and Students may attend free of charge.
ESO Music Director Douglas Newell explains;
“Just as Crazy Quilt is made of random pieces of material, the program for A Crazy Quilt of Music will feature a random selection of popular and light classic favorites including hits from Broadway, movies and television. Don’t be surprised to hear The Sound of Music paired with Elvis’ greatest hits with a Wedding March stitched in for good measure. Music from Frozen will be placed next to Up Where We Belong and Someone to Watch Over Me to name only a few of the selections we will play.
This will be the fourth concert in the 2020-2021 ESO Subscription series replacing a program by the Cecilia’s Music Early Music Ensemble. Cecilia’s Muse will return to Symphony Hall for a Christmas program featuring excerpts from Handel’s Messiah in November of this year. The final concert of the 2020-2021 ESO season entitled “Beer, Brauts and Beethoven” will be presented in June as a block party at the Enid Symphony Center. Please check our Facebook page and website for details as they become available.
“This performance marks the first time the ESO has performed in Joan Allen Symphony Hall since February of 2020. We are excited to return home for this special day which honors mothers everywhere and creates an opportunity to express our appreciation to the wonderful season ticket holders subscribers who have remained supportive throughout the pandemic.”
This performance has been underwritten in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National
Endowment for the Arts.
