EPS Names Gore Head Plainsmen Baseball Coach

Oklahoma baseball stand-out Brad Gore has been named the Head Coach of the Enid High School Baseball Team.

Gore, current head coach at Chickasha High School, has led teams to two state championships during his career, along with five more appearances in state championship final games.

Gore, a former Oklahoma State University pitcher, is respected by athletes and coaches across the state and region. He is known for building players’ skills and character on and off the field.

“We are excited to get someone of his caliber and record of success as a head coach,” Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd said. “I am excited about Coach Gore joining our team, and I am excited about what he can bring to our baseball program.”

Gore served as Dover High School Head Baseball Coach from 1995-2004. His Class B teams made a number of appearances at the state tournament including state runner-ups (fall), 1998; state quarter finals and state quarter finals (fall), 1999; state runner-ups and state semi-finals (fall), 2000; state champions and state quarter finals (fall), 2001; state champions and state quarter finals (fall), 2002; and state quarter finals, 2003.

Gore’s winning record continued at 5A Chickasha High School from 2005 to present, where his team made it to the state quarter finals in 2006, 2011 and 2013, the semi-finals in 2010 and earned state runner-up in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

His achievements also include 2001 Little All-City Coach of the Year, 2002 Small West All-State Coach; and 2008 Region 5 Coach of the Year. As a player, he was twice drafted by major league teams but declined – the first time to attend college and the second time due to injury.

Gore earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 1994 and his Masters of Education Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2008.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Gore will teach social studies for the district. He and his wife, Dana, have three children: Kelsi, who will be a senior; Conner, who will be an eighth-grader; and Cal, who will be a first-grader.

Gore replaces Bill Mayberry, who recently stepped down as baseball coach but will continue his responsibilities as district Activities Director.
