ENID, OK - Enid Public School’s Hoover Elementary has been named a National Blue Ribbon School.
The honor was announced today by the United States Department of Education. There will be a video released Wednesday about this year’s honorees found at www.ed.gov/nationalblueribbonschools.
Principal of Hoover Elementary, Tanea Artman, spoke on the honor of being recognized on a national level and the importance of the culture she and her staff have cultivated at Hoover.
“Building meaningful relationships between staff, parents, our community, and most importantly, our students are the practices that have been the most instrumental to our school’s continued ability to successfully educate and support students,” said Artman. “We are so thankful to be recognized in this way and will continue to work hard to provide the best education for our Hoover Hornets!”
The application process includes meeting your state’s criteria in reading, mathematics, and other academic indicators, such as attendance, and being an established school for at least five years, among other benchmarks. This is the second time Hoover has been named a National Blue Ribbon School, first receiving the award in 2012. Hoover is the only EPS school to have earned the award to date.
According to the Department of Education’s website, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has been recognizing schools every year since 1982. The award affirms the hard work on a national level of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.
District Human Resources and Communications Director, Jane Johnson, gave praise to the staff and students of Hoover on behalf of the district.
“We are so proud of Hoover Elementary students and staff,” said Johnson. “To be one of a few schools in the state with this designation is remarkable. Being named a Blue Ribbon School twice in the past ten years shows what dedication and hard work the staff puts in with their students and parents.”
Hoover is one of six Oklahoma schools to receive the honor this year. More information can be found at https://ed.gov/nationalblueribbonschools.
