ENID, OK - Enid’s only remaining Hallmark store is in the process of closing. Abbey’s Hallmark in Sunset Plaza started dropping prices in April and look to be closed sometime in the summer. Everything will be sold including the fixtures.
-
Hallmark stores have been a staple in Enid for decades. Enid at one time had multiple stores with various owners. Jake Rathbun owned several of the stores including one downtown. He ran Enid News & Stationary in downtown Enid for several years.
-
Rathbun had owned Abbey's Hallmark in Sunset Plaza and sold it to family members. Unofficial sources have said that the closing may be related to changes in Hallmark's guidelines as to how stores must operate.
-
The current owners of Abbey's Hallmark also have stores in Tulsa and Ponca City. The Abbey's Tulsa Hallmark store announced in March that they would be closing the doors on the location in the BOK Tower. It was posted on social media that the Ponca City store is closing as well.
