ENID, Okla. - Enid Young Professionals (EYP) hosted the 6th annual ‘10 Under 40’ awards ceremony on Tuesday, August 22. The event started out with a buffet lunch in the Central National Bank Center's Grand Ballroom.

This year’s luncheon was presented by Edward Jones financial advisors. Enid is proud to have 13 local financial advisors. Edward Jones has been helping nearly 7 million clients for more than 90 years.

The '10 Under 40' Awards program recognizes the top 10 Enid community members under the age of 40 who demonstrate qualities of a well-rounded young professional who excels in multiple areas of professionalism and community involvement.

Brent Price, NBA basketball player, was the keynote speaker. He spoke about the ups and downs of his basketball career including the games in which he played against Michael Jordan. Price said his career was based on "Three P's of Success". He talked about having purpose, passion and persistence.

34 deserving nominees were invited to the luncheon where 10 were presented the 2017 '10 Under 40' award. Many past nominees were also present in the audience and were recognized before the awards presentation.

EYP begin by accepting nominations from community members. The nominators are encouraged to nominate those that they feel excel both professionally in their career and in the community. The nominees were asked to submit a resume and information sheet which had several detailed questions such as what their honors and achievements are and why they believe they should be selected for this award.

The answers, along with nominator comments are compiled and made anonymous by the judging committee. The judges receive a packet with all the information and scoring sheets. Once completed, the Ardmore Young Professionals tallied the scores from all three judges and the top ten scores are the top 10<40.
