Enid, Oklahoma – May 8, 2017 – The stadium and race pits were filled with thousands of excited fans ready to see all 128 registered race cars compete for the win.

“We kicked of the 2017 season at Enid Speedway with a stellar car count and a grand turnout of racing fans who filled the stadium.” stated Kip Hughes, co-promoter of this year’s Enid Speedway races.
“We worked long hours to get the track and stadium prepared for a fun night of racing.” said Hughes. “We had an amazing turnout for the first race of the season. I couldn’t be happier with the amount of drivers and racing fans that turned out to show their support.”

The last race to run at Enid Speedway, before this season, was back in 2013. The track has sat vacant for four years. Reviving the Speedway didn’t come without some kinks that need to be smoothed out. “We were as prepared as possible for any unseen issues that may arise,” stated Hughes. “It was unfortunate that we had some lighting issues, but luckily the professionals of Ground Electric and Herc Rentals were on hand to help us get temporary lighting back up so racing could continue. The lights set us back to finish later than midnight and we apologize to anyone who was inconvenienced. We will do everything we can to work out the issues we faced during the opener.”
-
The next race is set for Saturday, July 8th. There will be live entertainment before the races and fireworks at intermission. “The feedback from the drivers and fans has been positive and helpful. I appreciate the support and will continue to do what we can to make each race night an enjoyable experience.”
