Chinese Dine in and Carry Out
Jiang Yuan isn’t the newest restaurant in Enid but since its doors opened just a few short years ago it has quicky made its mark in the Enid restaurant scene. The restaurant is clean and offers a very small dine in area. I mostly see customers opting for carry out. I’ve done both and to be honest my carryout menu that I got the very first time I dined at Jiang Yuan has gotten a workout. Rarely do I have a menu on my refrigerator but this menu has earned its placement. When I do dine –in, I have to say I see a lot of people I know. They are usually getting theirs to go, but the chats as they pass thru are always nice. Typically we talk about what the other has ordered.
The food at Jiang Yuan is really good and the prices are reasonable. Beware the portions are big so you get a lot of food with your order. There are hundreds of menu options ranging from egg drop soup to the Seafood Delight. If you like your food steamed there are plenty of options, that is the same for those watching their waistlines and those who enjoy vegetarian cuisine. I have tried many items on the menu but I have to say for the money I like the “Special Family Meal Deal” on the back of their menu. Before I list everything that comes with the order, keep in mind this is for two people. The Special Family Meal Deal for two includes; 2 egg rolls and 4 cheese wontons, a small fried rice or white rice and small soup and one entrée. There are 83 entrée’s to choose from and 8 different soups. All of this for just $13.95. It’s crazy good.
Jiang Yuan is a good restaurant. The dine in atmosphere is small and okay. It’s a little bit loud, but the carry out options are endless. Consider getting your order to go and then treat yourself to great table at one of Enid’s beautiful parks! Dine-in , Carry out especially with Enid as a backdrop.
They only offer bottled water and pop to drink. I’m an ice tea kind of girl so I give them for these options.
The food is good and the price is right. I give them for quantify and quality for the price.

Blazes BBQ
Corner of West Willow and North Van Buren.
Open Monday thru Saturday 11am to 9pm, Sunday 11am to 3pm.
Traditional BBQ - Dine in and Carry Out
(June 12, 2013) Blazes BBQ is now settling into its new location. I like the new location, it’s bigger and it opens up the options of dining choices on Enid’s north side. The day I went to Blazes it was busy. It was a very “social” atmosphere, people seemed to be in a good mood and there were a lot of people chatting with others at nearby tables and booths. I received guidance about the restaurant’s “best bets” from a fellow diner who frequents the establishment often. Here’s how it works: you order at a central window and you seat yourself. Your drink order is taken at the table. You also pay at your table. Most everything is smoked or fried though you do have a few other options such as corn on the cob and baked potato.
I had the one meat with two side’s meal. It was good. I did eye the smoked cheeseburger which I am told was very good and the Blazin Q Wich consisting of pulled pork, hotlinks, cheese and coleslaw on a bun looked interesting. You can order anything from sandwiches to racks of ribs. Sides include; fries, tator tots, cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad and the like. I had iced tea and it came in a huge mason jar, which is a nice touch. If you like “heat” try the jalapeno bottle caps as an appetizer. For the sweet tooth try a slice of homemade pie.
There were a lot of people I knew and many I did not know, it was lunch time and it appeared many of the customers were from nearby businesses. I do believe you will see more families in the evening and on weekends.
Prices run from around $5.99 and up. You do get a good portion of food for your money. I give them for quantity and price.
The food was hot and really good. I think there are enough menu items to fit almost any palate and if you eat there often you can mix it up a bit. The brisket I had was a tad dry. I like the bbq sauce offered. I give them for quality.
The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is very friendly. 1/2.
It is bbq, everyone has their own preferences. Blazes BBQ offers a good variety to choose from. Things to try; Blazin Q Wich, pie (really any of the choices they are all wonderful), fried green beans and the bottle caps.

Octavios Taquiera
226 W. Broadway • (580) 237-5256
(May 17, 2013) Many of you know Octavios Taquiera has moved to a new location at the corner of Broadway and Washington. Open Tuesday thru Sunday 11am to 7pm, Octavios offers; tacos, burritos, quesadillas and tortas. This is my first time trying Octavios. My first observations; It is a clean restaurant, you order at one side of the counter and when your number is called you pick your order up at the other end of the counter. The menu board is posted above the counter. I do like that they have the different types of tacos in Spanish and in English so you know what you are ordering. On this visit I tried the Special. The special is not on the menu board but a plated version is on the counter. The special is three tacos of your choice, rice and beans. I had the asada tacos. I tried the hot tacos instead of the mild tacos. Note to yourself “hot” is “hot” but I noticed plenty of people piling on more spices. When you pickup your order you will be asked if you would like a grilled jalapeno pepper, it is good and if you enjoy spicy food you will enjoy the extra kick. There is a small salsa bar with cut lime and two types of sauces. So here are my thoughts on Octavios Taquiera;
There were a lot of people there, some I knew, some I didn’t. Since I hadn’t been there I asked patrons what they liked and how to order. Everyone I talked to was eager to share what their favorite menu items were and why. I give Octavios melting pot factor .
I really liked my tacos, rice and beans. The beans weren’t all smooshed up. Don’t get me wrong, I like refried beans and on this visit I liked the beans I had. Squeeze a little lime on the asada taco, it gives it a little fun. I give the quality of food and for the price as it relates to quantity.
The atmosphere is diner in the front and nicer diner in the larger room to the side. There are some interesting wood and leather chairs that separates Octavios from many other dine ins. I liked the atmosphere. When they are busy you will want to situate yourself so you are able to pickup your order and make it thru the line of people waiting to order. It can be crowded at times, I like that, it is good to enjoy the hustle and bustle of a happy crowd. I give the atmosphere 1/2.
I had watermelon juice with my meal. There is also rice water, bottled water and bottled pop. Try the watermelon juice or the rice water. It’s sweet, refreshing and a real treat. Nothing like it in town. I’m an ice tea girl and there wasn’t any, still I was really happy with the juice option. Yum. I give the drink selections .
I give the watermelon juice and rice water . You have to try this.
I’m glad Octavios Taquiera moved to a larger location. The casual feel and terrific food makes it a must try in Enid.
