Enid Humorist Takes Stage Show On The Road

TULSA, OK - Enid High graduate, Shelby Simpson, comes from a well known family in the Enid community. Her father, Larry Simpson, and uncle Rick Simpson operated Simpson's Mercantile and have been making Western movies for a few years. At age 18 she took off for a new life in far off lands.
-
Simpson's first stop was college in Arizona. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Public Relations, then moved to San Francisco. After living there for a year, working at an art school and scraping together pennies, she moved overseas.
-
Simpson was obsessed with spending a chapter of her life in another country. So, she made it happen with almost no money in the bank. She moved to Australia, then to New Zealand. After that, she started country hopping. To date, Simpson has lived in seven countries and traveled to 45.
-
Writing was usually part of any job Simpson landed. It's become the soundtrack of her life. Currently, she's a narrative nonfiction author and professional writer living in Oklahoma City. She's won three awards nationally for her book Good Globe.
-
The stage production, Bad in Bed LIVE, is based on Simpson's 2nd book, We're All Bad in Bed. She's also a humorist. Her stories are for everyone, but she especially writes for women.
-
Bad in Bed LIVE is a book reading on acid. It's a night stuffed full of comedy and overflowing with true storytelling, dance, rap, and naughtiness. It's very unique. Attendees are saying they've never seen anything like it. The show has already received requests from people in LA, San Francisco, Washington DC, Canada, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand.
-
The shows choreographer has shared a stage with Paul McCartney, Busta Rhymes, and more.  The  director has starred in Hollywood movies, written his own work, and is a local celeb. One of the dancers has worked internationally in Brazil and other locations. Another one of our rappers is an opera singer who flips between Oklahoma and Italy to perform.
-
Simpson's set designer creates spaces for Miranda Lambert, Gwen Stefani, and more. Her name is Phara Queen and she is from Enid too! Her father Jake Rathbun owned and operated Enid News & Stationary on the same street as Simpson's Mercantile!
-
Bad in Bed LIVE, sold out six shows at Tower Theatre last August (which is SUPER rare for original, local work). This August, Simpson is taking the show to Tulsa, Denver, and Kansas City to prove concept. Once it does well, it'll be in a prime position to be taken nationally and internationally, and receive backing.
-
Enid residents are encouraged to see the show at the Tulsa Little Theatre August 1-3 at 8:00pm. Tickets & Tulsa information can be found at https://www.badinbed.live/tulsa-tour-dates. Enjoy the hour long radio interview BuzzHead Radio did with Simpson.
