Enid Dillard's To Close At The End Of The Year

ENID, OK - New Dillard's store manager, Jared Waddell, told us in May that the Oakwood Mall location was not closing as far as he knew. He had just moved to town and was aware of the rumors but had no official indication that the store would close.

Rumors on social media continue to surface that the Enid Dillard's is closing and we made another call to Waddell. This time we were given a new person to contact indicating that something has changed in the status of the Enid Dillards.

A statement was sent out addressed to customers by Julie Johnson Guymon, Corporate Spokesperson. The statements reads:

"We strategically close locations across our company and Enid has been selected as one of those stores. The current plan is to operate with clearance merchandise until the end of the year with eventually closing it's doors around or after holidays. We are saddened about this news as much as our customers are and we appreciate their years with us. We have nearby locations in OKC and Tulsa or Dillards.com to continue their shopping needs."
-
Guymon confirmed that the store will close towards the end of the year. She stated, "I’m confirming the closure of our Enid, Oklahoma location.  We will operate the store as a Clearance Center until its closure around the end of the year.   We strategically close locations from time to time, and such is the case with our Enid store."

I am devastated at the news is Dillard’s closing. That is the only store I shop at. I am in my 70’s and not up to driving to OKC whenever I want something. Furthermore, people from the surrounding smaller communities come to Enid to shop. Dillards has quality clothing, shoes, purses, makeup, perfumes etc. Dillard’s closing is sending shoppers out of town for their needs. City of Enid seems to be in the real estate business. Maybe they should buy the mall. They sure couldn’t do any worse than the current owner has.
