ENID, OK - Enid Public Schools students and their families are invited to a virtual grand opening of the Enid High School Gymnasium and Performing Arts Center Tuesday night.
The program will begin after the girls’ varsity basketball game, approximately 7 p.m., at the EHS gym located at 611 W. Wabash. The event will be live streamed on EPS*tv channel 19, the EPS Facebook page, and the EPS YouTube channel.
The event will include performances from the EHS Big Blue Band, the EHS Concert Choir, and EHS Pom and Cheer teams, as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony involving members of the Enid community, including Brent Price, the Enid Chamber of Commerce and the EPS Board of Education.
The project, part of the district’s $92.8 million bond program, was approved by Enid voters in February 2016. The new facilities house a fully equipped gymnasium with a competitive wrestling room as well as performing arts classrooms and a black box theatre. Additional classrooms were added as well as a multimedia room, home to student-run EPS*tv.
“We are thrilled to be sharing this event with the Enid community virtually,” Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd said. “This would not have been possible without community support of the 2016 bond program. We look forward to watching our Plainsmen and Pacers succeed in these new state-of-the-art facilities for decades to come.”
The facilities, designed by MA+ Architecture and constructed by Henson Construction, were completed in the Spring of 2020.
