Duaine Eldon Hubbart, 89, joined his Heavenly Father Sept. 14, 2017. Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18th, at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Pastor Kenneth Wade will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17th, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Duaine was born May 24, 1928, in Pond Creek, Oklahoma, to Roy and Merth Reynolds Hubbart.

Duaine attended school in Pond Creek until 11th grade, at which time he joined the Merchant Marines. He made one trip in Okinawa, Japan, in 1945, and then returned to graduate from Covington-Douglas high school in 1948. In 1950, Duaine entered the army and served in Japan as an Air Warning Specialist. He played football on the base team and received an honorable discharge at Fort Sill in 1952. After, Duaine worked in Enid as an optician.

On Nov. 24, 1956, Duaine married Jane Lamunyon, and the couple made their home in Enid. They were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Duaine began his work as an Enid Letter Carrier in 1960 then was promoted to Supervisor sixteen years later. He was then appointed Postmaster at Pond Creek in 1978, then at Cherokee in 1985. He served on the Executive Board of the National Association of Letter Carriers. After 28 years in the postal service, he retired in 1988. He continued to serve as NW District President of NALC.

At the time of his death, Duaine was a member of the Pond Creek VFW, a Charter Member of the Enid Moose Club, and a member of the NRA.
Duaine was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jane, and his brother, Donald (Bus) Hubbart of Colorado.

He is survived by his children, Cindy Koehn (Randy) and Myrna Steinke (Mike), Enid, Hal Hubbart (Teri Luckett), Watonga, Rex Hubbart, Bison; exchange student, Katri Iho Pekka, Finland; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Ross Hospice, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of funds.
