Dr. Aaron Lusby Named Teacher Of The Year (Video)

ENID, OK – Enid Public Schools announced Dr. Aaron Lusby as their 2019-20 Teacher of the Year during the EPS Foundation Education Celebration on Wednesday. The 2019-20 Support Professional of the Year is Elvira Lopez. The building-level honorees were selected by their colleagues.

Lusby is an 8th Grade Science teacher at Waller Middle School. He's been in education for 16 years and in the Enid Public School system for four years. Lusby will now represent the district at the Oklahoma Teacher of the Year competition next fall.

Lopez is an ELL Tutor and translator at Monroe Elementary and has been for the past three years. Always ready to lend a hand to families or staff members in need, she also serves as a liaison between Monroe and the Hispanic community.

“It is an honor to work with such excellent educators,” Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd said. “These teachers truly follow our district motto of ‘Excellence for ALL’ and model that in the classroom every day.”

The finalists for Support Professionals of the Year were Opal Chase, Elvira Lopez, and Hillary Meritt.

Opal Chase has been with the district for four years as a Paraprofessional.
Hillary Meritt is a Paraprofessional at Enid High School with 13 years in the district.
