Dorothy Maye Holsten

Dorothy Maye (Lubbers) Holsten, 97 year-old Enid resident was born April 10, 1927 in Ensign, Kansas to Eike and Alice (Workman) Lubbers and died Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the Garland Road Nursing Home in Enid, Oklahoma.

Dorothy attended Ensign schools and graduated with the class of 1944. Dorothy married Alfred Holsten in Dodge City, Kansas on January 24, 1945. She was a farmer's wife and worked hard along with her husband, Alfred. She also worked for Meyers Auction as a clerk, Zales Jewelers as a clerk, Bass Hospital as a nurse's aide and later a ward clerk, and K-Mart as the personnel manager.

After her retirement she volunteered at Bass Hospital for many years. Dorothy was also a 4 gallon donor to the Oklahoma Blood Institute.

She was a long-time member at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Enid, Oklahoma.

Dorothy is survived by sons Craig Holsten and wife Theresa of Oklahoma City and Harley Holsten and fiancée Gay Morrison of Waukomis; grandchildren Keith Holsten and wife Ramey, Bryon Holsten, Jereme Holsten and wife Alyssa, Kerissa (Holsten) Sharp and husband Shelby, and Taylor Holsten; great-grandchildren Alexis Casion, Jensyn Holsten, Natalie Holsten, Kaleb Holsten, Darrian Casion, Derek Fennel, Abigail Holsten, Kyler Holsten, Fallon Holsten, and Hayes Holsten; and brother Ben Lubbers.

Dorothy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Alfred; her parents Alice and Eike Lubbers; her sisters Martha Loewe and Marianne Smith; brothers Allen Lubbers and Don Lubbers; granddaughter Trisha Holsten; and great-granddaughter Kaitlynn Biggs.

A memorial service for Dorothy will be announced in the coming days.
