Graveside services for Doris Mae Hamilton, better known to her family as "Fuzzy", formerly of Medford, will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 21, 2021. Services will be in the Rosemound Cemetery with Pastor Craig Vandeburgh officiating, and under the kind guidance of the Stittsworth Funeral Service, Medford.
Doris was born on July 11, 1922 in Renfrow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ray and Ethel (Mills) Sprague, and passed away peacefully on March 16, 2021 in Enid.
Doris grew up in Renfrow, OK and graduated high school in Caldwell, KS in 1941. She attended Nursing School in Enid, graduating in 1944. During her nursing career, she worked in California for one year, followed by some time in Big Springs, TX. She then returned to Enid and worked at Enid General Hospital. Later Doris became the Head Nurse at Medford Nursing Home. After several years, she changed careers becoming the Grant County Tag Agent.
Doris married Dwight Hamilton July 17, 1955 and they had a long and beautiful marriage in Medford, OK. They enjoyed time together with family and friends at the Three Lakes Farm. They also spent many years traveling to Santa Fe, New Mexico where they enjoyed Southwest art, building quite a collection over the years.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Emmerine Sprague of Medford; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was loved by all.
Doris was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Dwight Hamilton; sisters, Marsaline "Scottie" Eulberg and Lenore Ulrey and their husbands; brother, Ray Sprague, Jr, "Brownie".
The family has requested that memorial donations be made payable to St. Jude's or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
