Doris Craven was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Chester Carl and Linnie Hazel (Armstroung) Craven, the 4th child of 8 children born to the family. Lanell was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of 17 on July 5, 1942, with her mother and other siblings in Rock Creek north of Mulburry, Arkansas. She was present in 1942 at the PEACE, CAN IT LAST? Convention in Little Rock, Arkansas, where attendees were mobbed by violent protesters, as well as many other historic conventions through the years.

Lanell was serving as a missionary for about six years. She served in many small towns all over Oklahoma until she married George William Crowley on July 12, 1946 in Idabel, after which they continued serving together as missionaries until starting their family. The first of 5 children Dan was born, then Judy, and some years later Georgetta. After leaving the Tulsa area to serve where the spiritual need was greater in Enid, Oklahoma, the family was later blessed with two more girls Rebekah and Katy.

All five children have continued to loyally serve Jehovah God, a fine testament to the example and the strong faith that their parents held in God’s word the Bible. With the children grown, Lanell went back to her lifelong dream of full time ministry work with George. In 1987 she and George were both invited and attended a school for full time ministers. Lanell’s deep love for Jehovah and the truth found in God’s word the Bible, fortified her determination to remain steadfast to her hope and faith for 75 years as a dedicated witness of the living God, Jehovah. His mercy and loving care continued to be expressed toward her through the kindly acts of family and fellow worshippers in the Christian congregation until she fell asleep for the last time awaiting the voice of Jesus calling her to awaken and to be reunited with her loved ones on earth (John 5:28). And she will HEAR his voice! Lanell struggled with hearing difficulties since birth and will delight when Jesus will heal her in fulfillment of all God’s promises (Isaiah 35:5). She found enjoyment in young children and flowers. How she will delight in Paradise! (Revelation 21:4).
