ENID, OK - Local parties, dances and gatherings are being planned all over Enid for this years New Year's Eve. Many of these events will include alcohol which will put many drivers in the awkward position of how to get home safely after having had even one drink.

Many drivers will not realize how impaired they are and will want to get behind the wheel. If you will be driving or are with someone driving take a second to read the information below. It only takes a split second for a life to be ruined by a drunk driver. New Year’s Eve consistently ranks among the year’s deadliest days for traffic fatalities.

The Enid Public Transit is providing free transportation on New Year’s Eve. Free rides can be obtained by calling (580) 279-7111 during the late evening on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. Calls will be taken until 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.

Mary Beth Williams, general manager of the Enid Public Transportation Authority said, “If you don't feel like you can drive home safely or if you know someone that doesn't need to drive home, please give us a call. We can provide a safe and easy way home.”

Funds were made available to offer free transportation on New Year’s Eve by Jerry and Flora Boland in memory of Lori Boland.
