February 2, 1950 - September 20, 2023
Diane Elizabeth Polk was born in Jackson, MS on February 28, 1950, to Richard and Elizabeth Lowery.
She passed away September 20, 2023, in Enid. She grew up and attended school all over the US as her
family moved frequently with the military, before graduating from Provine High School in Jackson, MS in
1968. Diane married her soulmate, Ed Polk on November 26, 1968, in Jackson, MS. They resided in
Jackson and welcomed two children, Paul, and Jennifer. In 1979, they established their home in Enid,
OK.
Throughout her career, Diane served as a legal assistant and instructor at Autry Technology Center. Her
favorite roles were being a mom, participating in PTA, and being a band mom. Over the years she
devoted her time as a Sunday School teacher at Garland Road Baptist Church, a VBS coordinator and
worked with the local Multiple Sclerosis Support Group and countless other charities and organizations.
Of course, her favorite role was being a grandma. She lit up when talking about her grandson Landen
and his achievements in school and golf.
People were immediately drawn to Diane’s kind spirit and generous nature. She loved to bake. Her
casseroles and pumpkin rolls were well-known throughout the community. Many were fortunate
enough to be on her ‘casserole list.’ She truly loved blessing people with her kitchen creations.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Richard and Elizabeth Lowery and her brother, Richard “Dick”
Lowery. She is survived by her husband, Ed Polk of the home, her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and
Jennifer Polk of Viola, KS, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Kyley Tetley, and grandson Landen
Tetley of Broken Arrow, OK.
A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 4 R Kids or Hospice Circle of Love.
