ENID, OK - David Vanhooser, currently Enid City commissioner for Ward 6, announced today he is filing for re-election in the upcoming Feb. 14th municipal election.

In a press release Vanhooser stated, “It has been my honor to serve as Ward 6 commissioner these past 4 years. When I think about the priorities that I set for myself during the campaign 4 years ago, it is remarkable how much has been accomplished. We now have a first class Public Access Television studio and a web presence where meetings and programs can be viewed live from anywhere in the world. We achieved a balanced budget. We have looked at the Meadowlake Golf course operations and have made improvement plans, and have a new plan for improving the EPTA. The contract for the widening of Willow Road has been approved and construction will start in about 90 days. We have made significant progress on improvements at Cleveland and Chestnut. We have added new trails and improvements to our Parks. Several new housing developments are nearing completion. We expanded the Woodring airport runway and maintained a strong relationship with our Vance Air Force Base partners."
-
He pointed out that the most significant accomplishment has been the successful passage of the Kaw Lake sales tax, and that project is moving forward rapidly. We should have water ready to distribute in 6 years, guaranteeing Enid’s water supply for the next 50 years.

Despite the downturn in the energy sector, Vanhooser believes Enid remains strong and viable. Academy, Rue 21, Pet Sense, Ulta, TJ Maxx, hotels and new restaurants are thriving. He said, "Our agriculture roots have continued strong and our retail sector is poised for significant growth. The Cleveland and Garriott development project, the downtown hotel project and the mall overhaul project and movie theatre continue towards fruition despite seemingly endless setbacks."

In his press release Commissioner Vanhooser said, "I look forward to continuing to work for the benefit of this community for years to come. I would be honored to have your continued support and your vote on Feb 14th."
