A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for David “Dawud” Ervin, age 37, will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, with Pastor Barry Robinson officiating.
David was born to James and Sylvia (Jones) Ervin on November 14, 1978, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016, in Enid.
David graduated from Timberidge High School in West Virginia. He was raised as a Baptist, converted to Muslim, and then became non-denominational. David worked for KBR at the Koch expansion project. He was well-traveled, loved history, and enjoyed reading. David lived in Atlantic City and Blanchard, before moving to Enid in 2007. He attended Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, and was growing into being a great man and awesome father.
He is survived by his parents, Sylvia and Troy McClanahan, of Wichita Falls, TX; his father James Earnest Ervin, Jr. of Pennsylvania; four children: Quamira Ervin of Savannah, Georgia, Sundiata, Sumaiya, and Sudan Ervin, of Enid; partner in love Ja’Nell Huff of Enid; grandfather Earnest Jones; three brothers: James Ervin III, Joseph Ervin, and Troy McClanahan Jr.; and two sisters, Eartha Ervin of Pennsylvania, and Heather Ervin of Virginia Beach, and a host of nieces and nephews, loved ones, friends and acquaintances.
David was preceded in death by his grandmothers Dorothy A. Jones and Eartha Lee Baxter and grandfather James Ervin, Sr.
