Daphney was born in Enid, on June 12, 1978. The majority of her life was spent in Enid with her mother Jen Bush. However, she also spent time growing up with her father, James Brown and sister, Chanel Brown. During those times she found herself living in such places as, London, UK and Raleigh, N.C.

She graduated from Enid High School in 1997 and took business courses at Autry Technology Center in Enid. After graduating she moved to Eugene, Ore. and once again found herself living with her father. Also, she often found herself working in the food industry and it was while working at a Wendy’s that she met Joshua Smith and found that he was her one and only true love. They were married on May 21, 2001, in Eugene, Ore. and have spent 16 wonderful years together. During that time, they found themselves raising Joshua’s daughter, Nicole Hising. They were also able to foster her nieces, C.J. and Justus Oller for a period of time. Sadly, she came to find out she was unable to have children of her own; so, in recent times, she poured herself into nurturing her four-legged furry children, Jake, Daisy and Jax.

She was truly a lover of many types of animals and had a great appreciation of the outdoors. She and Joshua enjoyed many camping trips and they managed several camp grounds while still living in Oregon. One of her most favorite places to be was Blue Pool, Oreg., because it was there that the butterflies would gather in vast quantities along the river. Further, while being in the outdoors, she found a love of wildflowers and she especially loved daisies.
-
She was a strong-willed and loving person. She was 100 percent dedicated to whatever she put her mind to. Always very comfortable in her own skin, she was never afraid to share her feelings or stand up for what she believed in and that is why the next big step in her life was to dedicate herself to Jehovah God. And so on June 2, 2012, she was baptized at an assembly of Jehovah’s Witnesses, held at Rose State College in Oklahoma City.
-
In spite of her physical handicaps, she was very zealous in her ministry and it was often heard said by her fellow believers around the Kingdom Hall that, “she strengthened my faith as well as the ones that we went to speak to”. Even language barriers were not enough to slow her down. To expand her territory, she learned greetings in various languages and learned American Sign Language extensively and regularly visited deaf ones in Ponca City.
-
She was a loyal and loving wife, daughter, sister and friend. She brought love into every relationship she had. Still, she felt she was missing something. She wanted her partner to be a part of this new life she had discovered. So, on every occasion that became available, she shared her spirituality with her husband. As a result, he joined her in serving Jehovah God and showed his willingness to obey God by being baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 20, 2017.
