Dale Monroe Fain

July 25, 1937 - May 7, 2024

Dale Fain was born on July 25, 1937, on his family farm in Indiahoma, OK, to Jim and Jessie (Barker) Fain. Dale walked through the gates of heaven on May 7, 2024, after a short illness while living at the Arbor’s in Enid, OK. Dale was an educator, farmer, and most importantly, a child of God. His family and his Lord were the most important things in his life. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in the upcoming weeks in Enid, OK. Cremation arrangements are with Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dale grew up in Snyder, OK. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1955, and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Agronomy from Oklahoma State University in 1961. He married the love of his life, Janice Sue Meadows on July 9, 1955, in Decatur, GA. Dale and Janice had three children, David, Delinda Dee and Julie.

Early in their marriage, Dale and Janice relocated to New Jersey for the United States Army Signal Corps (USASC). He also delivered telegrams for the Western Union. They relocated to Stillwater, OK, to attend Oklahoma State University. After graduation, Dale worked as an Area Agronomist for OSU in Fairview, OK, and then ultimately settled in Enid, OK. He also worked for the USDA at the Federal Extension Service. He was a well-respected educator and crop and soil specialist; even sporting a CROPDOC license plate on his truck. Dale spent tireless hours educating and working with farmers throughout OK, KS and TX. Dale received numerous accolades and awards throughout his esteemed career; to include the President’s Award for Excellence in Agriculture from President Ronald Reagan. He also received a Master Agronomist Award from Ferguson College of Agriculture at OSU, and the USDA Award for Superior Service.

Dale and Janice were avid travelers. They visited all 7 continents and went on numerous cruises throughout the world. Dale especially loved to snow ski in NM and CO with his family. When they weren’t traveling, they dedicated their life to helping others and were members of the First Baptist Church in Enid, OK. They both loved God and enjoyed the fellowship of others. They attended First Baptist Church for over 60 years. Dale was a Department Director, Deacon and Planning Committee member for many years.

After retirement, Dale worked with insurance companies as an agronomy specialist. He loved his work and was able to continue his friendship with the local farmers. Dale spent his retirement years with Janice, and they soon became Nini and Poppy to their five grandchildren. He also loved to rock the babies at Mother’s Day Out at the church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jimmie Lee, daughter, Delinda Dee, brother John Paul, his son, David, and wife, Janice.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Julie Pohutsky (Matt), daughter-in-law, Nancy Fain, Five grandchildren, Dalayna

(Aaron) Newberry, Doug (fiancée Maddy) Fain, De Dee (Braden) Atkinson, Jordan Pohutsky, and Morgan Pohutsky. 3 great great grands Piper Newberry, Amelia Bureau, and Blakely Newberry.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Links International or First Baptist Church Missions Fund.
