March 26, 1969 - February 1, 2023
Craig Allen Jones of Enid, Oklahoma, passed on February 1, 2023, leaving behind a large, loving family. He was born on March 26, 1969, in Enid, Oklahoma to Victoria Ann (Larr) Jones and Stanley “Jerry” Jeremiah Jones. After graduating Ames High School in 1987, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Jacksonville, Florida aboard the USS J. F. Kennedy where he also served in Desert Storm. It is safe to say that he had to grow up rather quickly during his five years of service.
Once Craig returned home to Oklahoma following his time in the military, he enrolled and graduated from the electrical program at Oklahoma State University Okmulgee. He then began his career in electrical work at Thilsted Electric and later accepted a position at OG&E— where he worked for over two decades. He took great pride in his work and his ability to help his family and friends with electrical issues, especially his mother, Vicki. Craig continued his handy work when he left OG&E to work with his brother as a floor installer for the last few years. Just like his father, Jerry, and brother, Jerry Don, he was a handy man— he worked until the job was done.
Outside of work, Craig lived his life with the utmost passion and the orneriest sense of humor. He had a deep love for community and his friends who became family. He was a loyal member of the local Elk’s Lodge in Enid Oklahoma, where he led fundraisers and served individuals in need. This is also where he met the love of his life and fiancé, Cindy Brown. Craig also had a love for the outdoors and animals— from guinea pigs to peacocks, Craig cared for a variety of pets throughout his life. With his pure and comforting love, he showed the world his heart of gold wherever he went.
Craig is survived by his mother, Vicki Jones of Enid, OK; his sister Renee and Robert Cottrill of Lahoma, OK; his brother Jerry Don Jones of Enid, OK; his sister Reesa and Robert Mackie of Ames, OK; fiancé Cindy Brown, of Enid, OK; nephew Blake Cottrill and Shelby Cottrill of Enid, OK; niece Riley Pearce of Oklahoma City, OK; nephew Rustin Pearce of Pond Creek, OK; nephew Jeremiah “Jeb” Jones of Enid, OK; great-niece Tatum Cottrill of Enid, OK; and many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Jerry Jones; grandparents Everett and Rachel Jones; grandparents Wendell and Donna Larr; and numerous uncles and aunts.
A celebration of Craig’s life will be Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Faith Center of Meno with Cody Anderson officiating— all family and friends are welcome. He will be laid to rest at the Ames Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy. Services are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
