Cordell A Belcher

May 4, 1935 - July 21, 2023

The Homegoing services celebrating and honoring the life of Cordell Andrew Belcher will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 3, 2023, in the Westside Church of God in Christ with Reverend Norwood officiating. Burial will be held 12:30 P.M. Friday August 4, 2023, in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Cordell Andrew Belcher was born May 4,1935 in Enid Oklahoma to Martin Luther Belcher,Sr. And Bessie Mae Maynard Belcher and passed from this life July 21, 2023 in Fort Dodge, Kansas.

In 1953, He graduated from Booker Washington High School, also, in Enid Oklahoma. After graduating, In September 1953 he enrolled in the Navy through August 1954 and in March1955 served in the US Army until November 1956, each with honorable discharge. After service, he established his home in Wichita Kansas and graduated with Bachelor of Science Engineer in Electronic from Wichita State University. He described his travels through America and Europe working as “Priceless and meaningful memories.” Cordell was an accomplished pianist, He played for many of the churches within the community. He loved music of many genres, as well as reading and writing. He was known for being a civil right activist, that included frequent articles in the Wichita local newspaper and other publications. He was generous with his resources.

He leaves to cherish his memories: nephew and, Nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 siblings, Martin Belcher, Benjamin Belcher, Maynard Belcher, Paul Belcher, Josephine Christopher, Barbara Lewis, and many close relatives.
