ENID, OK - A local social justice group is resuming its recall efforts after a city commissioner refused to denounce his ties to extremist hate groups.
In February 2023 Blevins was elected to the Ward 1 Commission seat on the Enid City Commission, Enid, Oklahoma. Since his election, Blevins has not provided any response to media or public questions regarding his ties to Identity Evropa and neo-Nazi and white nationalist activities and causes.
On October 22, Enid Social Justice Committee (ESJC) announced it would seek a recall of Blevins, due to his refusal to address his reported ties to extremist hate activities.
On October 25, ESJC paused its recall campaign to meet with a third party (Ward 2 Commissioner Derwin Norwood) in seeking a mediated agreement whereby ESJC would table the recall effort if Blevins acknowledged and renounced his past extremist group affiliations. On November 3, Blevins refused to denounce those ties, and ESJC resumed its recall campaign, and its efforts to remove extremist hate group influences in city government.
ESJC will address this issue to the Enid City Commission in an open meeting, 6:30 p.m. CST, Tuesday, November 7. Collection of recall signatures will begin immediately after.
