ENID, OK - The Enid City Commission had an early Thursday commission meeting that only lasted 30 minutes. The Mayor and commissioners breezed through the agenda very quickly highlighted by the approval of three variances on sidewalk ordinances and approval to transfer $14,100,000.00 from the Enid Municipal Authority to the Water Capital Improvement Department.

The water project funds will be transferred from the Enid Municipal Authority to the Water Capital Improvement Fund to provide funding for the Kaw Lake program Phase 2 with Garver, LLC, Little Rock, Arkansas. All items were approved 6-0 with Commissioner David Vanhooser being absent from the meeting.

The commission meeting was scheduled to end in Executive Session where the commissioners were to discuss, with the city attorney, the purchase of property near Government Springs South Park. Before the commission made a motion to adjourn, Commissioner Aaron Brownlee put forth a motion not convene in Executive Session.
-
Commissioner Brownlee said, "This is about a property purchase. It has nothing to do with anything other than a property purchase. We don't have any plans for development of that site, it's purely about a property."
-
After a prior Executive Session Commissioner Ben Ezzell revealed that a developer was asking questions about developing the property for a possible casino although there was never a proposal on the table.
-
Brownlee also said, "We don't have anything to talk about tonight. It's all speculation." He believes the contract with the commission is dated prior to any contract with a real estate agent. He suggested that the city attorney proceed with the purchase as the commission originally directed and wait for the title work to address any issues that might exist.
-
There has been some question as to which family member has the authority to sell the property. Brownlee said, "I think we're dealing with the right people, and we will know shortly, but, if we're not, then we'd need to get together and talk about it. If we are, then we need to proceed."
