Charlotte Declue, a Native American author (Her heritage is Osage)

Declue's poetry is marked by skillful use of the conversational idiom and trenchant wit. Her husband, Ben Carnes, a Choctaw, is a prison activist, the winner of the 1987 Oklahoma Human Rights Award. Her poems have appeared in numerous literary journals in this country and Europe.
