Mass of Christian Burial for Charley Cunningham, 80, will be Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 2:00 pm in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Reverends Mark Mason and John Herrera celebrants. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be Wednesday evening at 7:00pm at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Deacon Val Ross presiding.
Charley was born on December 15, 1939 in Hunter, Oklahoma to Clyde and Bellzora Cunningham and died on November 28, 2020 in Enid.
He was born the 8th of 11 children and grew up in the Hunter area. Charley went to Hunter High School. On August 20, 1960, he married Dolores “Dee” Fuxa in St. Joseph Catholic Church and they made their home in Enid. He worked in the construction industry for many years, working for Shorty Leighnor, Henson Construction, Bass Construction and Davidson Brothers. Charley worked on many public buildings in Enid and throughout Oklahoma.
He was a charter member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Charley was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1044, where he was Knight of the Month and Charley and Dee received the Family of the Year several times. He was a member of Dudes and Dolls Square Dancing Club and was a great pitch player.
Charley was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Andrew; sisters, Margaret and Thelma and two infant sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Dee; four children and their spouses, Keith and Deana Cunningham, Kyle and Judi Cunningham, Kara and Tim Hopkins, and Kimberly and Darrell Clark; fifteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Earl and Calvin Cunningham; two sisters, Laverna Selix and Diana Key Clary; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
