May 2, 2012 - December 10, 2024
On May 2, 2012 at 7:58pm, Charles Barrett Sierra made his grand entrance unsurprisingly early into the world to Mariah Lyn Bruno and Charles Bryan Sierra. As he would prove throughout his life, Barrett was anything but ordinary as a newborn baby. Very soon after he arrived home, Barrett was sleeping for 6 hours at a time and rarely cried. For any new parents, this would be the perfect child, and that’s exactly what Barrett was until the day he went Home. Many who met Barrett as a baby were struck by his sweet nature, ever present smile, and always being ready for a cuddle. As a toddler, Barrett quickly showed that he was a master of weird and quirky noises that entertained and sometimes annoyed everyone around him. He was the kind of kid that rarely complained, did what his parents asked and was just an absolute joy to be around.
As Barrett grew up his interests expanded, and he quickly became an expert in dinosaurs. If you wanted to know about every species of dinosaur that ever existed, Barrett was your guy. He went through a pirate phase and read up on all things pirates. Even though he had a slow start in the reading department, he soon developed a passion for books. His interests weren’t typical of a boy his age. He loved history and devoured books about the different wars, military weaponry, tanks, planes and everything that goes along with it. His stepdad, Frank and he quickly bonded over this. They both loved military museums and took trips to visit many.
As a he grew older, Barrett developed a love for travel and for fine dining, thanks to his mom. Barrett’s mother often made it a point to take him to a variety of restaurants and he soon developed a refined and expensive palette. Throughout his life, Barrett frequently went on camping trips and nature hikes with his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Barrett also became a world traveler at the age of 9 when his mother, his G, and uncle Jace took him to Costa Rica on vacation.
Barrett also had a special bond with his dad, Charlie, Grandma Teresa, his uncles and his cousins. Because of his dad, Barrett became a wicked gamer and spent countless hours playing his favorite video games. He attended Chisholm Middle School and played tuba in the band.
Known to his family as Bear Bear, he gave hugs worthy of his nickname. Barrett is survived by his mom Mariah and stepdad Frank Bruno, his dad Charles Sierra, his Grandparents Lucinda “G” Shaffer, and Jeff Shaffer, grandparents Teresa Washburn and husband Dan, Armando Sierra, his Aunt Madison Shaffer, uncles Jadon and Jace Shaffer along with uncles Cory Hunter, wife Amber and Scott Sierra and wife Marcie and a whole host of cousins and lots of extended family. On December 10, 2024, Barrett joined his great grandparents Rod and Bonnie, great grandpa Al, cousin Titus, and his Uncle Joey.
