ENID, OK - July 27, 2017 - On April 9th, at 2:24 A.M., the Enid Police Department received a call concerning an odor coming from a roll off trash container outside the residence at 1616 S. 2nd in Enid. Upon arrival, police officers discovered a deceased newborn male infant inside the container.
-
The State Medical Examiner’s office was notified, arrived on scene, and took custody of the infant’s body. The body was then transported to Oklahoma City for examination.
-
During the investigation police learned that Kathryn Juanita Green, age 26, lived at the residence with her three children – two 6 year olds and one 7 year old. A search warrant was obtained and the residence was searched. During the search, investigators noted that the residence was unsanitary and unfit for the children. They observed clothing and trash strewn throughout the house, extension cords lying about, dirty dishes and the smell of decayed food in the kitchen, a knife, a bottle of alcohol, and prescription medication easily accessible to the children, soiled mattresses lying on the floor without bedding, and an open electrical outlet nearly touching the mattress in one of the children’s rooms. In the back yard they observed a large machete lying on the back porch, two sheets of plate glass lying near the shed door, and a trailer with an open door that was filled with clothing and debris – all of which would have also been easily accessible to the children.
-
Kathryn was interviewed at the police station and was observed at one point attempting to conceal methamphetamine in her body cavities. Detectives recovered the drugs and obtained a search warrant for Kathryn’s DNA. The sample was submitted to OSBI for comparison.
-
Kathryn was placed under arrest and booked into the Garfield County Detention Center on charges of child neglect and possession of a controlled dangerous substance – methamphetamine.
-
On April 24th, 2017 the OSBI laboratory confirmed through DNA testing that Kathryn was the mother of the deceased infant.
-
On July 24th, 2017 the Medical Examiner’s autopsy report concluded that the infant’s cause of death was “methamphetamine toxicity” and the manner of death was “homicide”.
-
On July 27th, 2017 the Garfield County District Court issued an arrest warrant for Kathryn Juanita Green with amended charges of: murder in the second degree, unauthorized disposal of a corpse, child neglect, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance – methamphetamine, and obstructing an officer. Kathryn Green remains in custody from the original arrest.
