ENID, OK - The City of Enid and Enid Public Schools is announcing a change in the traffic flow at West Chestnut Avenue and North Oakwood Road to enhance safety during morning and afternoon school traffic.
This change will take effect immediately and will be set as a permanent change for subsequent school years. The pedestrian crossings at this intersection have been programmed to stop all traffic from all directions, to allow students and crossing guards to cross both arterial roadways safely.
The stop cycle is 50 seconds and provides enough time to clear both directions of travel for these pedestrians.
The program is effective solely during specific hours: 7:30am to 8am, and again from 3pm to 3:30pm. Outside of these designated times, the intersection will operate as usual.
As a reminder, pedestrians have the right of way. Motorists are advised to allocate extra travel time when passing through this area during the designated hours, to obey posted traffic control signs, and to exercise extreme caution while driving in this area.
It’s too bad it took an illegal immigrant to kill one very special person!! What a total waste of life, just so glad Dan was able to get the child to safety. But, that’s what Dan did!!
