ENID, OK - The City of Enid has closed Champlin Pool until further notice after a near-drowning incident at the pool on Thursday afternoon. A middle school boy was taken from the pool by emergency personnel and later was flown to Wichita in critical condition.

The City of Enid has issued this statement: There was an incident at the Champlin Pool on Thursday afternoon. The Enid police department is investigating the incident. City Manager Jerald Gilbert said, “No further details are available at this time and the pool is closed until further notice.”

Police were called to the scene and started an investigation. They have not released any further details. EPD closed the pool after the incident.
