Cedric Earl Chaney

September 22, 1939 - October 3, 2023

Cedric Earl Chaney, 84, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on October 3, 2023. He was born on September 22, 1939, in Lincoln, Arkansas to Paul Arthur Chaney and Goldie Mae Chaney.
Cedric served as A PFC for the United States Army from 1960-1966, earning various military honors including the Good Conduct Medal, SS and MM Rifle Medals. After his honorable discharge, he pursued a career in Enid with Vance Air Force Base until his retirement in 2007. He married Judy Pauline Chaney (Butzbach) on November 4th, 1964 and cherished their marriage until she went home to be with the lord April of 2015.

Cedric was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his children Arthur Chaney, Deanna Chaney, Cedric Van Chaney, and Terry Chaney who will greatly miss their father. Cedric was preceded in death by his father Paul Chaney, mother Goldie Chaney, wife Judy Chaney, son Timothy Chaney Sr, sister Pauline Epperly, sister Juanita Yeager, and sister Irene Gillham. The reunion in Heaven held the morning of his passing brings comfort to all of his family knowing he has been reunited with his parents, sisters, son and wife.

He was also very loved and survived by his grandchildren Timothy Chaney Jr, David Chaney, Amber Wilson and husband Zachary Wilson, Heather Matlock and husband Austin Matlock, and youngest grand baby Katie Austin. He raised all of his grandkids and taught them pure love and joy, but more importantly patience. There wasn’t a day go by that he wasn’t outside doing something for them or building something one of them asked for. He always showed up for every occasion and made sure they knew he was present. He was extremely proud of his Grandson, Timothy when he joined ROTC in high school. Throughout the years, he enjoyed building model airplanes and computers with both Tim and David and taking them to the runways to fly them. Amber, Heather and Katie kept him busy with school functions, dollhouse projects, treehouse projects and anything that involved building and being outside with papa.

He first became a great grandfather February 2016 and welcomed his first great grand baby, Cherish Matlock, who quickly became his partner in crime and spoiled her just like her mother, Heather. They were the best of friends and enjoyed donuts, Dr Pepper, and dancing together. Anytime she called her papa, he was on the way whether it be for donuts and Dr Pepper, or simply to hang out with papa and watch Moana. Following a short year later, he became the great grandfather of twin baby boys, Trenton and Lukas Matlock who quickly became his buddies. He and lukas always somehow got on the subject of Minecraft. He and Trenton always ended up on the couch eating Cheetos and watching TV. Later on he was surprised with yet another great granddaughter, Stella Matlock. She always loved to talk about his beard. They kept him on his toes just as much as his grand babies did when they were all little.

In his free time, Cedric enjoyed drawing, writing, and playing computer games, with Minecraft being his favorite. He was known for his creativity and passion for the arts. He was known as Jack of all trades. Anything from construction, plumbing, electrical work, computer graphics, he worked on anything and everything. Except vehicles. He left that for the mechanics.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Anderson Burris Funeral home in Enid, Oklahoma. The family will gather to remember Cedric and celebrate his life at a later time while arrangements are made with the Veterans Affairs for a proper Military Memorial.

Please join us in honoring the memory of Cedric Earl Chaney and his contributions to our country and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His presence truly made the world a brighter place.
