ENID, OK - The 13th Annual Candy Cane Cash drawing took place Saturday morning and the weather lived up to its frigid reputation. A multitude of hopeful shoppers braved the cold and gathered around the gazebo on the courthouse lawn. The dynamic duo of Frank Baker and April Danahy kept the crowd distracted from the cold by calling out winning numbers and handing out $15,000 in cash.

The morning began with the Candy Cane Dash, a 5K fun run, and the Holiday Costume Contest. Many runners donned wacky outfits in honor of the holiday season. Costumes included a shark, a Christmas present, Winne Pooh and the Cat in the Hat as well as others. The winning combo was Cindy Lou Who and the Grinch.

Coach Hayes and his student athletes then cranked the giant hopper filled with red, green, blue and white numbered tickets. Assorted helpers plucked the valuable paper tokens from the mix as a line of local dignitaries held up numbered cards corresponding to the digits called out by Danahy.
-
Winning contestants had only minutes to gather themselves, make their way to the stage and produce the matching ticket. Numbers were called without winners triggering second and third drawings until all of the cash was gone. At the end of the day prizes of $500, $1000, $2,000, $2,500 and $7,500 were awarded to 7 lucky shoppers.

Karyssa Franklin had the honor of seeing her name written on the giant $7,500 check. Other winners included Sheryl Berry ($500), Larry Smith ($500), Jack McFadden ($1,000), Cheryl Briggs ($1,000), Jessica Pitts ($2,000) and Patti Serio ($2,500).
