The memorial service for Burnice Evelyn Hallberg Smith, 95, of Enid, will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday October 27, 2017 in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Mitchell officiating. Services and burial will also be held at a later date in Orange, Massachusetts. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born May 20, 1922 to Charles and Ruth Hallberg on her family’s farm in Warwick, Massachusetts and passed from this life on October 22, 2017 in Enid, Oklahoma

She was raised and educated in Orange, Massachusetts and graduated from Orange High School in 1940. She was married to her husband Gordon C. Smith in 1943, she remained in Orange while her husband was serving in World War II, and was a teachers aid after the war ended. She moved to Enid, Oklahoma in 1996 to be close to her son. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Methodist women, Chapter F.S. P.E.O., and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was the sweetest person ever and loved to be around people, crocheting, knitting, and working in the garden.

She is survived by one son Gordon C. “Bud” Smith Jr. and wife Judy, of Enid, and one daughter Cherryl McLaughlin of Belchertown, Massachusetts. Five Grandchildren, Erin Lylis and Joe Green of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Eric C. Smith and wife Jody of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jenny Watts and Greg Thompson of Dallas, Texas, Kevin Halstead and wife Tonya of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kelly McLendon and husband Carter of Topeka, Kansas, six great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Elin Smith, Trevor Thompson, Jordan Halstead and Kara and Cole McClendon; One Sister Margery Stevens, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two siblings one brother Carl Hallberg and one sister Pricilla Scott.
