The funeral for Burma McGuffee will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Joe Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Burma was born in the Carrier-Goltry Community to Clarence and Edrie Jantz. She graduated from Carrier High School as Valdictorian, and then graduated from Enid Business College. She was employed at Champlin Petroleum Company, later known as Union Pacific Resources, for thirty years. Burma married Dell Montague in 1950. They shared a beautiful life together for 26 years, until he went to be with the Lord in 1976. A son, Dan Winston, came into their life in 1952.
Burma was a member of Oakwood Christian Church, where she was secretary of her Sunday School Class for many years, and a member of the Seekers Class. Burma was a past State President of Oklahoma DeMolay Mothers’ Club, State DeMolay Mom for Oklahoma, Coordinator for all Chapter Sweethearts for Oklahoma, past President of Shrine Ladies, Member of the Order of Eastern Star of Ruth Chapter 447, where she was Secretary of Ruth Chapter. She received the Grand Cross of Color of Rainbows, and a member of First Senior Ambucs.
In 1988, Burma married Bob McGuffee, and they shared many good times, traveling, taking cruises, doing volunteer work, and especially having time for each other. They were married 25 years.
Those preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband Dell, and second husband Bob on June 23, 2012.
Burma is survived by her son Dan Montague of Enid, Bob’s two sons, Robert McGuffee and his wife Ann, and Dennis McGuffee; one granddaughter L’oreal; two great-grandsons; sister Joanne Cooper of Enid; and many nieces, nephews, and many friends.
