ENID, OK - Brown's Shoe Fit Co. has been fitting people with comfortable footwear for over 100 years and they've been selling shoes in the Enid community since 1976. Originally located downtown they've more recently been located in the Westgate Shopping Center for over two decades.
Brown's is now set to move to a larger location across the street in the Sunset Plaza Shopping Center. They will occupy the south side of the former Hastings location with an 8,000 sq, ft. area and hope to open there in early September.
New store owner, Jason Martin, talked about the need for more space. He said, "We do great shoes and want to display them in a nice way and the space does not allow that. We're looking forward to being able to display and make it just a little bit easier to shop our selection."
Martin is originally from upstate New York and moved to Enid 13 years ago with Family Video. He had only planned on being in Oklahoma for a year but ended up meeting his wife here. She was not a fan of the cold New York weather and talked him into staying in town.
Martin began his association with Brown's Shoe Fit Co. as a customer and one day saw an ad on Indeed looking for someone to become involved with the store. The opportunity at Brown's offered him extensive training and the ability to become the owner of his own location, which was unique benefit.
After he trained in the Enid store, Martin became the owner/manger of the Woodward location where he worked for eight years. When the possibility to manage and own the Enid location presented itself it was a no-brainer for Martin to move back. He had loved his earlier time in Enid and his wife's family was still here.
Brown's Shoe Fit Co. believes in customer service first. Martin said, "We don't just sell shoes, we sell service. We're one of the few sit and fit show stores." Since 1911, Brown's has survived World Wars, pandemics and they're stronger than they've ever been. They have stores in 12 Midwestern states.
Martin stated, "People still want that human touch, the shoe knowledge and the true fit." He likes to say, "Brown's Shoe Fit is yesterday's service with today's shoes."
Brown's offers the same price on shoes as the company making the shoe does. So if you go to a shoe companies website you'll find the same price there as you see in the store. If they don't have a particular shoe style or color in stock, they will try to find the shoe for you and if it comes in and doesn't fit you don't have the hassle of sending it back.

Brown's is open 6 days a week from 9:00am to 6:00pm, closed on Sunday.
