ENID, OK - Businesses are hurting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sales and traffic are at all time lows for many local retailers. Businesses that are hurting the worst are restaurants, clubs and bars.
Limited space due to social distancing and reduced hours have put a clamp on clubs and bars. Many clubs relied on large crowds after 11:00pm but Oklahoma currently has an 11:00pm closing time for restaurants, clubs and bars.
Clubs have had to get creative to supplement the income they are losing with no late night crowds. One local night spot doing just that is Boondocks Tavern located on the edge of downtown Enid.
Partners, Dana Noteware and Jennifer Timberlake Taylor, are adding a new aspect to Boondocks with the premiere of their first food menu. They rolled out fresh food on Wednesday, December 16. They have also ended smoking inside and are working on an outdoor patio for those that prefer to smoke.
The partners purchased a food truck trailer and have it cranking out food in front of the tavern. You can order from within the tavern or drive up and take it to-go.
The menu is set for their soft opening but will include more items as they perfect their system. Appetizers include Loaded Nachos, Loaded Waffle Fries, Hennessy Chicken and Waffles and more. Featured entrees are Fish & Chips, Pork Adobo Banh Mi, Boondocks Burger, Cuban Sandwich and Chicken Wings and a Philly Cheese Steak.
Sides round out the menu with french fries, waffle fires, sweet potato fries, red beans & rice, collard greens and bar chips. You can also order and good ole soda.
Tax is included in price of the food item. Desserts are coming after the soft opening.
Food will be served at the same time the bar is open which is Wednesday thru Saturday from 4:00pm to 11:00pm. Food to-go from the outside trailer ends at midnight even though the club closes at 11:00pm.
