Funeral services for Bonnie Lee Matthews, 87, Enid resident, will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 2:00 p. in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Kelly Russell officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Bonnie was born on August 18, 1930 in Mutual, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oral Ivens and Francis Inez Mosher Guthrie, and passed away peacefully on July 7, 2018 in Enid. She was raised and educated in Mutual, graduating from Mutual High School with the class of 1948. Bonnie married James Oren Matthews in Canadian, Texas on September 5, 1948. They lived in Woodward for thirteen years, Mineola, Kansas one year, Tulsa for one year, and later moving to Enid. Bonnie worked 33 years as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring in 1981. She was a member of First Baptist Church and Telphone Company Pioneers.

Survivors include her husband James of the residence; son, Ronald Matthews of Enid; grandsons, Edward Matthews of Enid and Jonathan Matthews, of Broken Arrow; great-grandson, James Matthews of Enid; great-granddaughters, Brandi Matthews of Enid, Meghan and Caitlyn Matthews of Broken Arrow; sister, Verda Raser of Mineola, Kansas; brother, Wilbur Guthrie of Ames, Iowa.

Bonnie was preceded in passing by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, one great-great-grandson, Jesse Matthews. The family has requested, instead of flowers, memorial donation checks be made payable to First Baptist Church.
