A private memorial service for Billy Tipton, age 91, will be held at a later date in Altus. Billy was born to Fred and Mary (Ferrell) Tipton on July 2, 1925, in Lebanon, Oklahoma, and passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in Enid.
Billy graduated from the University of Oklahoma, earning a Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Physics. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. On February 14, 1946, Billy married Joyce Marie Hunter. He was a Christian and active member of the Church of Christ since 1946. Billy was a member of Garriott Road Church of Christ.
Billy is survived by two sons: John Tipton of Denver, Colorado, and Joey Tipton and wife Pamela, of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother Joe Tipton of Quail, Texas; and two sisters, Geraldene Caron of Orlando, and Joy Hudson of Ft. Worth.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, parents, and brother Donald.
