Betty LaVern (Jean) McDaniel, a resident of Pauls Valley, was born August 31, 1928, in Izzard County, Arkansas, to the late William Arthur and Clercy Elizabeth (Hays) Jean. She passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021, in Pauls Valley, at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 19 days. She and Lloyd Cameron “Bud” McDaniel were married on August 27, 1952, in Pauls Valley. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2004.
Betty grew up in Murray and Garvin Counties. She was 1946 graduate of Wayne High School. She later attended Autry Technology Center in Enid, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse’s Certificate. Betty spent 20+ years working in the health care industry, employed in Pauls Valley, Enid and Arkansas City, KS. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, and going fishing with her sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Ferguson of Pauls Valley; four grandchildren, Katy Ferguson, Darrin Ferguson, Shanda McDaniel, and Tanner McDaniel; one sister, Gail Mayberry of Wynnewood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Gary McDaniel: and four siblings, Wilma, Ernestine, Buell, and Lonnie.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
