Betty Jo LaRue McDonald - age 93 of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday January 28th, 2024 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She was a faithful and dedicated servant of the lord. Since 2020, she lived at Greenbrier Assisted Living Center where she loved the nurses and staff. She was a graduate of Loudon High School (Loudon, Tennessee) and worked for many years as a Telephone Operator at Southwestern Bell (AT&T). She later went on to work the switchboard at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center and frequently volunteered at St. Mary’s.
Aside from work, Betty, could be found just about anywhere with an infectious smile that would bring joy to all of those around her. She was always intentional and made sure those around her felt loved and cared about. Whether she was enjoying a trip back home to Loudon, Tennessee or a short trip to Johnnie’s in El Reno she would go out of her way to show other people kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy C. and Lois Inez (Camper) LaRue; four brothers, William, Paul, Thomas, and Mack LaRue; and sister, Helen L. LaRue-Wofsy.
Survived by Sister-in-law, Mary Alice LaRue, Brother-in-law, Chet Wofsy, two daughters, Deborah L. Werner (Amarillo, Texas) and Jo E. Yancey (Edmond, Oklahoma), three grandchildren Ross, David (wife Jessa), and Thomas Werner (wife Courtnie), Great Grandchildren Cadie, Caden, Adley, Jackson, and Colson; many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A Celebration of Life Service of Betty Jo will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 10, 2023 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will be later in Loudon, Tennessee. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
